October Horror-thon

My husband is a horror fan. Through and through, blood to bone. It’s not a problem as much a light obsession. They’re his favourite genre of film, he’s turned our spare room into a shrine to the macabre and keeps trying to sneak his figurines into the living room.

I am…not a horror fan.

I don’t hate them, in fact my appreciation of them has grown in recent years (it was going to happen…) however I have quite a few things that make me very uncomfortable:

• Small spaces

• Clowns

• Ghosts

• Clowns

• Sexual violence

• Clowns

• Really jumpy noise scares

• Did I mention clowns?

As you can imagine, often these topics appear in films. Especially looking at the supernatural trend that still hasn’t gone away.

Monsters are awesome. Serial killers? Cool. Grotesque sci-fi? I’m down with that. Red nose and exaggerated facial make up? Get the fuck out.

So, of course, I made the decision to do an October Horror-thon.

No, I don’t know why and yes, I regret it already.

Thanks to the friendly peoples on Twitter, I’ve managed to accumulate a list of what’s going to be coming up (starting tomorrow). I’ll attempt to review them as well as I can every night. So, brace yourself for the influx everyone.

Here’s what my October looks like:

1st. The Shallows (2016)

2nd. Get Out (2017)

3rd. Jennifer’s Body (2009)

15th. Crimson Peak (2015)

16th. Apostle (2018)

17th. You’re Next (2011)

18th. Witches Of Eastwick (1987)

31st. It (2017)

Yes, I did just end that list with the mother of all clown films.

Yes, I probably will cry.

But I love Stephen King and dammit I’m going to try.

If you’d like to keep up with my progress, then why not subscribe to the blog? I’ll be adding new content everyday throughout October and would really appreciate your support as I try and keep my fragile psyche in one piece.
